Human Resources Generalist

Our client, a well-established food manufacturing organization, is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join its team in Ankeny, Iowa. This position is a highly visible role that partners closely with leaders and employees across the operation to foster a positive workplace culture, support employee engagement initiatives, and provide guidance on a wide range of human resources matters. The ideal candidate will bring prior experience supporting a unionized workforce within a manufacturing, distribution, or warehouse environment and will be comfortable serving as a trusted advisor to leaders on employee relations matters. Compensation includes base salary of 80,000-$95,000. Full benefits are available to include medical, dental, vision, paid time off, company paid holidays, and 401k. Key Responsibilities Partner with supervisors and managers to address employee relations concerns and promote a positive work environment. Serve as a mentor and resource to leadership on employee relations issues, policies, procedures, and best practices. Support a unionized workforce and assist with labor relations matters in accordance with collective bargaining agreements. Lead full-cycle recruiting efforts for hourly and salaried positions, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding. Drive employee recognition, engagement, and retention initiatives. Conduct employee investigations and provide recommendations for resolution. Assist with performance management processes and employee development programs. Support policy interpretation, compliance, and HR-related training initiatives. Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. Collaborate with site leadership to support organizational goals and workforce planning efforts. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred. 3+ years of progressive HR experience. Prior experience supporting a unionized workforce is required. Experience within manufacturing, food manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, or industrial environments is required. Strong employee relations and conflict resolution skills. Experience with full-cycle recruiting and onboarding. Ability to influence and build credibility with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
