Data Engineer

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Data Engineer for a contract position with a Major Financial Services Firm located in Charlotte, NC. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

This role is a critical member of a data team, responsible for designing and developing data integration solutions that deliver business value. The ideal candidate will design and develop data processing, data manipulation, and ETL processes into large data domains using Python, Pyspark, and AWS tools.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines
• Develop and optimize ETL workflows for data ingestion
• Collaborate with product, app team and analysts to support data needs
• Ensure data quality and integrity across systems
• Implement data security and compliance measures
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance
• Document data engineering processes and workflows
• Stay updated with emerging data engineering technologies

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
• Minimum 8 years of hands-on data engineering experience in development using Python and Pyspark
• Experience in AWS cloud services like Glue, Lambda, MSK (Kafka), S3, Step functions, RDS, EKS
• Experience in Databases like Postgres, SQL Server, Oracle, or Sybase
• Experience with SQL, performance tuning, queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and triggers
• Understanding of Data pipelines, ETL processes, CI/CD DevOps process and tools like GitHub and Jenkins
• Knowledge of Data modeling, Warehousing concepts and Agile/SCRUM methodology
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Desired skills:

• Experience with other ETL tools (DataStage, Informatica, Pentaho, etc)
• Experience in workload automation tools like Control-M or Autosys
• Knowledge in MDM, Data Warehouse, and Data Analytics
• Experience working with REST APIs
• Knowledge in developing UNIX scripts and Oracle SQL/PL-SQL

Pay range: $59.99 - $69.99 per hour
