Distribution Manager

Distribution Manager – Operations (Joliet, IL) – Salary $90,000 – $110,000 (annual) We are seeking an experienced Distribution Manager to oversee day‑to‑day operations in a fast‑paced, 1million‑square‑foot, food‑grade warehouse. In this role the candidate will manage multiple supervisors and 30–40 hourly associates, ensure proper staffing, maintain inventory accuracy, uphold safety and customer service standards, and drive efficiency through data‑driven decision making. Responsibilities Manage multiple supervisors and 30‑40+ hourly associates in a 1millionsq‑ft food‑grade warehouse. Plan, monitor and execute staffing schedules and adjust as needed to meet operational demands. Supervise inbound and outbound truck loading/unloading while maintaining organization and inventory accuracy. Maintain productivity, customer service, and safety standards on a daily basis. Provide superior customer service and maintain professional relationships with strategic partners. Coach, mentor, and develop staff; conduct performance reviews. Manage revenue and expenses vs. budget; track key performance indicators (KPIs). Communicate operations policies, procedures, and safety methods to the staff. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (highly preferred). High School Diploma or GED (required). Six or more years of warehouse experience, including food‑grade (strongly preferred). At least 4 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a 3PL environment. Lean experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Passion for delivering excellent customer service and developing mutually beneficial relationships. Strong analytical skills to identify problems, analyze data, and recommend solutions. Ability to influence change and improve operational performance beyond direct control. Proficiency in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Project management skills: plan, organize, prioritize, and present information to managers and clients.
