Automotive Paint Prep Technician
Location: Auburn Hills, MI
Pay: $20 - $22 per hour
Shift: Monday - Friday | 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
About the Opportunity Our client is seeking an Automotive Paint Prep Technician to join their automotive paint team. This hands-on role is responsible for preparing vehicles and components for the paint process by sanding surfaces, inspecting for defects, and supporting painters and masking technicians. The ideal candidate has experience in an automotive paint or collision repair environment and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles and parts for paint defects and surface imperfections.
• Sand vehicle panels and components using proper tools and techniques to prepare for paint.
• Prepare vehicles and parts for the masking process.
• Assist painters and masking technicians with paint preparation and related tasks.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow quality standards and established paint preparation procedures.
• Work efficiently to meet production schedules while maintaining attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Previous experience in an automotive paint shop, collision center, or body shop preferred.
• Basic knowledge of automotive paint systems, materials, and preparation techniques.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and move throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing or automotive production environment.
