VP, Program Management

Position Overview Eaton is seeking a Vice President, Program Management at the enterprise level. The role is based at Eaton’s US Headquarters in Beachwood, Ohio and reports to the Vice President of Engineering Functional Excellence. The Vice President of Program Management will develop and implement the enterprise-wide strategy for Program Management, provide overall direction for digital tools and methods, partner with engineering leaders on critical business unit programs, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. What you’ll do Define and implement state‑of‑the‑art Project and Portfolio Management practices, processes and tools across the enterprise, including integration with PROLaunch Studio and Critical Chain Project Management. Oversee the program management function across the enterprise to deliver new product and major redesigns within scope, schedule and budget commitments. Identify and implement opportunities for improvement in program and project management, coordinating cross‑functional teams (marketing, engineering, supply chain, operations). Implement control mechanisms to reduce cycle time and discipline execution around Design for Six Sigma. Facilitate major project reporting sessions with senior leadership, including segment reviews and product portfolio administration. Own continuous improvement initiatives for projects and programs, and manage resource planning for multi‑year product and technology roadmaps. Lead oversight and implementation of the ProPM program management system and database, controlling all programs and projects with status updates, resource planning and upward reporting. Lead complex, multi‑function initiatives such as Portfolio Complexity reduction across the enterprise. Build strong partnerships with Engineering and Program Management leaders to promote state‑of‑the‑art tools and methods. Work with global resources to enable high‑performance teams across functions, geographies, time zones and cultures. Enable Future Ready Skills Infrastructure on multi‑year Product & Technology Roadmaps to optimize global resource planning. Build and develop a highly skilled program management team, implementing the latest processes, tools and training. Demonstrate high ethical standards, ensuring accurate reporting, environmental protection, human resource development and sound business practices. Establish common metrics to gauge engineering proficiency across the enterprise and harmonize critical KPIs with targeted year‑over‑year improvements. Measure global engineering spend and new product sales, implementing real‑time dashboards and key metric reporting to senior management. Team Structure The team includes a Senior Specialist (Portfolio Complexity Reduction; Palantir data analysis expertise), a Program Management Director with five Program Managers (including a Program Manager who leads Eaton Research Labs), and a Program Management Excellence team (including dashboards team) comprising 17 employees and two Palantir experts. Qualifications Minimum 15 years of progressive engineering and/or program management leadership, developing products/solutions in a fast‑paced, global technology‑driven company. Minimum 5 years of multi‑level people management experience, leading cross‑functional global teams with decisive, data‑driven decisions. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Systems Engineering strongly preferred. Additional Position Criteria History of delivering high‑tech projects, defining scopes, developing and monitoring timelines and budgets for on‑time and on‑budget delivery. Thorough understanding of the product development process and ability to balance commercial expectations with project timelines. Experience leading globally dispersed teams and managing cultural differences to create successful partnerships. Experience presenting to senior leadership. Consensus‑driven style valuing collaborative relationships. Track record of influencing technology and business leaders with longer‑term strategies and implementation plans. Experience building organizational capabilities and increasing talent development, succession depth and bench strength. Compensation The expected annual salary range for this role is $227,000 - $333,000, with eligibility for a variable incentive program. Salaries are based on candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
