Location: Remote (Preference for NYC Metro Area or East Coast) 

Travel: 40–50% travel required 

Reports To: Chief Philanthropy Officer

Position Overview

First Responders Children’s Foundation (FRCF) is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven, and entrepreneurial Vice President of Development to lead and scale the organization’s fundraising and partnership efforts nationwide. This executive-level leader will oversee major gifts, corporate partnerships, grants, foundation giving, donor stewardship, legacy giving, campaigns, and development operations while helping drive sustainable revenue growth in support of FRCF’s mission.

This role is ideal for an experienced fundraising executive who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-centered environment and has a proven track record of securing six- and seven-figure gifts, building national partnerships, and leading high-performing development initiatives.

Because this role supports national partnerships, donor cultivation, and events, the position may be remote with significant travel required.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Fundraising Leadership

• Develop and execute a comprehensive national fundraising strategy aligned with FRCF’s growth goals.
• Lead all aspects of development, including individual giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, grants, foundations, events, campaigns, and donor stewardship.
• Establish annual fundraising goals, KPIs, and revenue projections.
• Identify and cultivate new funding opportunities and strategic partnerships.
• Work closely with executive leadership and the Board of Directors to expand donor engagement and philanthropic support.

Major Gifts & Corporate Partnerships

• Manage a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, corporate partners, and foundation prospects.
• Cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts and multi-year commitments.
• Build and expand national and franchise-based partnerships.
• Lead sponsorship strategy and negotiations for key programs and events.
• Represent FRCF at donor meetings, conferences, community events, and fundraising initiatives nationwide.

Team Leadership & Operations

• Lead, mentor, and support development staff and external consultants.
• Oversee donor pipeline management, CRM systems, reporting, and fundraising analytics.
• Ensure timely donor acknowledgements, stewardship plans, and impact reporting.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, and program teams.
• Develop systems and processes to improve fundraising efficiency and scalability.

Events & External Engagement

• Support planning and execution of fundraising campaigns, and partner events.
• Serve as a public-facing ambassador for FRCF and its mission.
• Travel nationally to strengthen donor relationships and support major organizational initiatives.

Qualifications

• 6–10+ years of nonprofit fundraising or development leadership experience.
• Proven success securing major gifts and corporate partnerships.
• Experience leading fundraising strategy for a growing nonprofit organization.
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
• Experience managing donor pipelines and CRM systems.
• Strong presentation, proposal-writing, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to travel (40–50%).
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Passion for supporting the children of first responder families.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with national nonprofit partnerships or franchise/multi-location donor relationships.
• Experience working with Boards and executive leadership teams.
• Familiarity with Bloomerang, DonorBox, Canva, and fundraising analytics platforms.
• Existing corporate and philanthropic network preferred.
