Adjuncts - Computer Aided Design (CAD)

Job Title Adjunct – Computer Aided Design (CAD) Overview Credit part‑time, adjunct faculty teaching positions will teach, lecture and instruct laboratory coursework in various CAD and CAD‑related curriculum. The position requires knowledge of basic drafting skills as it relates to traditional drafting equipment with a strong emphasis on Computer‑Aided Design and drafting in the Mechanical Design industry. Candidates should have experience extending beyond theoretical knowledge to practical usage of core CAD/drafting components, manufacturing, and overall mechanical design processes. The curriculum covers AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, mechanical drawing and detailing (orthographic projection, multi‑view drawings, isometric drafting, sectioning, auxiliary views, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, annotation, and assemblies), 3‑D parametric modeling, rapid prototyping and manufacturing processes. Classes include certificate programs, specialized diplomas, associate’s degree candidates, and students continuing to complete a four‑year program. Schedules are morning, afternoon and/or evening; lab preparation time is required in addition to lecture time. Responsibilities Lead teaching discussions in CAD and related topics. Prepare and conduct laboratory sessions. Deliver lectures consistent with prescribed curriculum. Provide student support during lab and lecture times. Qualifications Associate’s degree in a related area from a regionally accredited institution. 5 to 10 years of recent, relevant professional experience using AutoCAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks in both 2‑D and 3‑D applications across various industry areas. Computer and troubleshooting skills, knowledge of print reading and technical math. Experience in CNC technology, robotics, inspection, metrology or CAM/CIM is helpful. Academic instruction experience at the college level (associate’s degree level or above) is desirable but not required. Ability to convey basic concepts to students following a prescribed curriculum. Additional Information Adjunct instructors are hired on a semester‑to‑semester basis based on departmental needs.
