In this rewarding contract opportunity located near Alexandria, VA, you'll play a key role as a Special Education Teacher supporting young learners in a K-2 Adaptive Skills Program. As a valued member of the educational team, you will work full-time (Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week) to deliver impactful instruction to students following the VESOL curriculum, ensuring every child receives an inclusive and empowering learning experience.

Qualifications:

• Current and valid Virginia Teaching License required
• Adaptive certification highly preferred
• Experience working with Early Childhood or K-2 students a plus
• Knowledge or familiarity with adaptive skill strategies
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities
• Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment

Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored instruction to K-2 students in the Adaptive Skills Program
• Implement and modify lessons utilizing the VESOL curriculum
• Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to develop and monitor IEPs
• Design differentiated learning activities to meet individual student needs
• Track student progress and maintain thorough records
• Communicate regularly with families to support student development
• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and training
