Job Description
Cardiac Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cardiac Telemetry Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cardiac care, demonstrating the ability to provide high-quality patient care in a telemetry setting.

Required Skills and Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of cardiac experience required
• Experience in Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, or Step-down units preferred
• First-time travelers accepted with appropriate cardiac experience

Job Details

• Shift: 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
• Available contracts: 36 or 48 hours per week with options for longer contracts (13-26 weeks)
• Required to float as needed and provide weekend coverage (4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks)
• On-call duty not required
• Patient-nurse ratio: 1:6
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off (RTO)
• Willingness to work holidays is mandatory

Responsibilities

As a Cardiac Telemetry RN, you will be responsible for the care and monitoring of patients with a variety of cardiac conditions such as:

• Atrial Fibrillation
• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS)
• Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
• Aortic Stenosis and Regurgitation
• Mitral Regurgitation and Stenosis
• Endocarditis and Cardiomyopathy
• Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD) and Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)
• Vasculitis, Carotid Stenosis, and Venous Stasis
• Sheath management and removal

Special Procedures and Unit Details

This position will involve working with patients undergoing various procedures, including:

• Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
• Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR)
• Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR)
• Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
• Mitral Clip procedures
• Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion (Watchman)
• Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS)
• Carotid Endarterectomy
• Femoropopliteal Bypass Surgery
• Amputations, and other vascular and cardiac surgeries

Special Equipment Utilized

• Arterial lines (not required)
• Doppler
• Bladder scanner
• Electrocardiogram (EKG) machines
• Femoral sheaths
• TR Band and Fem-Stop devices
• Chest tubes
• Epicardial pacing wires

Documentation and Communication Systems

Familiarity with the following systems is essential:

• Pyxis for medication management
• EPIC for documentation
• SBAR for communication

Orientation

All new staff will undergo a 24-hour orientation program to familiarize themselves with unit protocols and procedures.

Dress Code

Approved scrub attire includes navy blue pants paired with a white top.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting this specialty position.
