Special Education Resource Teacher

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Resource Teacher to join our team at O'Leary Middle School. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs and creating an inclusive educational environment. This full-time position involves collaborating with educators, parents, and support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that promote academic and social success for students with disabilities. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs. Provide direct instruction and support to students in various settings, including one-on-one, small group, and co-teaching inclusive classroom environments. Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students. Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust instructional methods as necessary. Maintain accurate records of student performance, progress, and behavior in accordance with school policies and state regulations. Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding student progress and educational needs. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, empathy, and engagement among all students. Advocate for the needs and rights of students with disabilities within the school community. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Valid state teaching certification in Special Education. Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting is preferred. Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and support staff. Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with trends in special education. All recommendations for hire are tentative offers.
