Job Summary


Our client is seeking a Director of Professional Services to lead and develop the organization's professional coding strategy, ensuring operational, financial, compliance, and quality goals are met. The role involves establishing coding policies and managing coding teams across various specialties, providing expertise in coding regulations, and collaborating with leadership to enhance revenue and mitigate risks.


Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute professional coding strategy to support operational, financial, compliance, and quality goals.
• Establish coding policies, standards, workflows, and best practices across all specialties and providers.
• Lead and direct coding managers, teams, auditors, educators, and outsourced partners.
• Ensure coding accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Oversee provider education programs related to coding, documentation, compliance, and reimbursement.
• Monitor and evaluate E/M coding patterns and compliance with guidelines.
• Lead internal and external coding audits and develop corrective action plans.
• Manage relationships and performance of outsourced vendors and coding partners.
• Collaborate with revenue cycle leadership to optimize reimbursement and address coding-related revenue leakage.
• Develop coding performance dashboards and analyze quality, productivity, and reimbursement data.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of progressive professional coding experience in a large physician practice or healthcare system.
• 3-5 years of leadership experience managing coding operations.
• Experience with multiple specialties and provider types.
• Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, E/M coding, and documentation guidelines.
• Strong analytical skills and experience with EHR systems and AI-assisted coding solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or related field required.
• Master's degree preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of progressive professional coding experience in a large physician practice, academic medical group, integrated delivery network, or healthcare system.
• Minimum 3-5 years of leadership experience managing coding operations.

Skills

• Expert knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, E/M coding, and documentation guidelines.
• Comprehensive understanding of professional fee billing and reimbursement methodologies.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and project management skills.
• Proficiency with coding software, EHR systems, business intelligence tools, and reporting platforms.

Additional Requirements

• Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm.
