DC Power Field Technician

Field Service Technician | Telecommunications Power Distribution

We are seeking a DC Power Field Technician to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of DC power systems at customer sites.

This is a hands-on, field-based position supporting telecommunications and mission-critical power environments . The technician will work with DC power plants, batteries, rectifiers, power distribution equipment, and energized systems while completing preventative maintenance, equipment testing, turn-up, modifications, and field service.

This position requires extensive travel— up to 75% or more —and is ideal for someone who enjoys technical field work, working independently, solving problems, and supporting critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and maintain DC power plants, rectifiers, battery systems, and associated power distribution equipment
• Perform circuit additions, removals, and modifications on working power distribution sources
• Complete power transition work
• Perform additions, modifications, and removals to power boards
• Add or remove batteries
• Perform software additions or upgrades to power systems and controllers
• Conduct equipment testing and turn-up
• Perform preventative maintenance on DC power and battery equipment
• Troubleshoot technical issues and replace defective components
• Complete service reports and required field documentation
• Create and maintain Visio as-built drawings
• Maintain company tools, test equipment, service vehicle, parts, and inventory
• Provide professional on-site support and technical assistance to customers
• Follow applicable safety and quality requirements, including OSHA, DOT Hazmat, and ISO 9000 standards

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1.5 years of field service experience in electrical, telecommunications, or energy-related work
• Basic understanding of electrical systems and test equipment
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and manuals
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Ability and willingness to work non-standard hours within a 24/7 work environment
• Ability to travel overnight up to 75% or more
• Ability to work overtime and participate in on-call coverage
• Ability to work varying schedules including nights, weekends, and public holidays
• Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces
• Ability to perform physical work involving bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
• Ability to differentiate colors

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with DC power plants, rectifiers, and battery systems in a telecommunications environment
• Manufacturer certifications related to power or battery platform

Certifications & Training

• OSHA 10 required
• OSHA 30 preferred or obtained within an agreed timeframe
• DOT Hazmat certification required or obtained upon hire

Work Environment

This is a field-based position requiring regular customer-site travel and work around energized electrical systems. Technicians operate a company service vehicle and may work nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call schedules depending on project requirements.
