The department provides the following services to our patients: Transthoracic Echocardiograms (TTE), Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE), Stress Echocardiograms, Nuclear Stress Tests, Treadmill Exercise Stress Tests, Event and Holter Monitors and EKG Processing.Role Purpose:The Cardiac Diagnostic Laboratory at Barnes-Jewish Hospital is partnered with Washington University School of Medicine to provide state-of-the-art multi-modality echocardiographic imaging. The Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) performs ASE-guided, non-invasive cardiovascular testing in an IAC (Intersocietal Accreditation Commission) accredited lab to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac disease or injury, including advanced pathologies and anatomies (3-D echocardiography, transplanted heart and lungs, assist device placement and management, transcatheter valvular repair/replacement, congenital abnormalities and malformations, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, percutaneous placement of closure devices for patent foramen ovale and atrial septal defects, and research protocols). Performs testing in routine, non-routine urgent and emergent patient care situations. Testing modalities will include transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress transthoracic echocardiography.Responsibilities:Performs complex echocardiography exams at various locations throughout academic campus.Evaluates all aspects of cardiovascular patient clinical assessment for cardiac conditions and recognizes abnormalities.Reviews and correlates relevant patient history, including corrective procedures, surgeries, etc. Applies independent clinical judgement during exam to ensure appropriate anatomical, pathophysiology and clinical conditions are captured in examination images.Acquires advanced modalities as trained to include 3D, right heart strain, TAPSE, PISA. Transcatheter pre/post valvular repair/replacement, HOCM etcCommunicates with healthcare team for collaboration of care.
