About the Position

Job Title

Cardiac Surgical Technologist – Level 4

Location

New York, NY

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 36 or 48 hours per week | DEN rotation, weekends, holidays, and on-call per unit need

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare instruments, equipment, and supplies for a wide variety of cardiac surgical procedures including CABGs, TAVIs, VADs, ECMO, artificial heart, and heart transplants
• Assist the surgical team from the scrub position during operations
• Maintain sterile technique, perform surgical counts, and ensure safe handling of sharps in accordance with hospital policy
• Facilitate proper room turnover between cases and ensure appropriate care and handling of instruments
• Demonstrate proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents under the direction of a registered nurse

Required Qualifications

• NBSTSA Certification or a minimum of 10 years of experience as a Surgical Technician
• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a cardiac operating room
• Ability to scrub and circulate
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association (required)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with advanced cardiac procedures such as heart transplants, ECMO, and ventricular assist devices (VADs)
• Familiarity with a multidisciplinary OR team environment caring for patients of all ages
