MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or its equivalent and eight (8) years of professional or technical experience in consumer complaint program work, business administration, consumer or public relations, investigations, administrative work, professional regulation, or a field related to the area of responsibility; or
A bachelor's degree (four (4) years) from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of professional experience in consumer complaint program work, business administration, customer or public relations, investigations, administrative work, professional regulation, or a field related to the area of responsibility; or
A master's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
Requires possession of a valid Driver’s License.

Some overnight, weekend and evening travel may be required for attendance/presentations at conferences and meetings/trainings.
Moderate overnight travel for periods of time possible for school visits and onsite System assistance.

JOB DUTIES:
This position will provide onsite and virtual support to Florida schools implementing a new foodservice technology system (P.O.I.N.T. System) as part of the USDA National School Lunch Program (NSLP). This includes gaining knowledge of the system’s 8 modules with ability to apply this knowledge related to menu planning, ordering, inventory management and nutrient analysis.
As assigned, serve to provide functional and technical support to local school food service management and state agency staff.
Assist school food service sponsor staff in:
- Completing system configuration for planned meals/snack.
- Adding existing recipes and/or creating new recipes and creating menu items from recipes.
- Developing cycle/repeating menu plans using pre-loaded menu items.
Research existing ingredients in the System to create and evaluate compliance of the menu plans to federal and state standards. Complete online research for nutrition information from manufacturers for common ingredients used by schools in program meals.
Use file upload processes or complete manual data entry for the System for new manufacturer products. Assist with analysis and evaluation of NSLP, School Breakfast Program (SBP), and Afterschool Snack Program (ASSP) menu plans submitted by prospective (new) sponsors. Assist in the monitoring of existing program sponsors’ compliance with nutrition regulations and menu certification requirements during scheduled School Meals Administrative Review using the System as the evaluation tool.
Assesses training and educational needs for division staff and sponsors regarding ServSafe Training. Evaluates training records for effectiveness and efficiency of training and education programs for POINT and ServSafe. Participates in staff meetings and curricular development in an endeavor to develop and improve training and education programs for POINT and ServSafe.
Serves as contract manager for in-person training services contract. Reviews and approves invoices from vendor. Writes Request for Proposals/Initiations to Negotiate solicitations for vendor services as needed with supervisory input and approval. Markets training contractor services to sponsors. Regularly evaluates training services contractor and subcontractors to assess performance.
Provides feedback on training and nutrition related materials. Monitors and updates the Nutrition Standards Section website content related to the System. Assists with training development for staff and program sponsors related to the System. Provide support to the division’s dietitians in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements for school meals and supporting healthy school environments within the framework of the child nutrition programs.
Assists with the emergency management functions of the bureau during periods of disaster. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of methods, techniques, and equipment used in quantity food production, including purchasing, menu planning, merchandising, food safety, food storage, staffing, and equipment.
- Knowledge of basic nutritional needs of children.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to USDA Child Nutrition Programs.
- Ability to learn, interpret and apply applicable state and federal rules and regulations.
- Skill in communicating effectively and advising program participants on the application of nutrition principles.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to analyze program-related issues accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
- Skill in integrating nutrition education within school settings and school food service programs.
- Ability to advise sponsors on the application of nutrition principles to their food service programs.
- Knowledge and skill in using Excel and/or computer-based software to complete menu certification and nutrient analysis reports of NSLP sponsors.
