This position is responsible for ensuring the quality loading of vehicles onto out-bound trains and unloading vehicles from inbound trains through efficient productivity of the work crews. This position coordinates the activities of all rail crews under the direction of the Terminal Manager or Operations Manager to ensure a well-coordinated, productive, safe and damage-free operation./ppEssential Duties and Tasks/pulliResponsible for the daily scheduling of personnel to load unload vehicles in a productive, safe, cost-efficient manner./liliDirect the facilitys day-to-day activities ulliOversee loading operations/liliOversee unloading operations/liliOversee receipt and scanning of vehicles into inventory system/liliOversee vehicle movement/liliOversee vehicle Inspections and submittal of damages to proper platforms/liliOversee daily safety briefings/li/ul/liliAssign personnel to job locations/liliEnsure personnel have the support, tools and supplies needed for production/liliConduct audits and make suggestions for corrective actions as needed/liliObserve and assist the crews where needed including driving vehicles to and from specified locations in the yard and on/off rail cars./liliMake certain all vehicles are parked in proper locations and bayed correctly./liliMake appropriate changes in activities as needed./liliDaily communication with leads, other staff, and office personnel to determine staffing, supply and operational needs, and ensure these needs are met./liliEnsure new personnel receive the appropriate training./liliResponsible for the progressive disciplinary process in counseling, warnings, and other corrective action to ensure that a productive labor climate exists./liliDocument performance issues and coordinate all corrective action with Operation and/or Terminal Manager./liliResponsible for safety programs to provide a safe, clean workplace for all personnel and within the regulations of local, state, and OSHA standards./liliReport accidents and injuries on appropriate forms and communicate to all appropriate customers/vendors and AWCT personnel as required./liliUnderstand and apply all AWCT, customer, AAR, safety, and quality standards/policies./liliFollow all safety guidelines to guarantee the job is done in a safe manner./liliIdentify vehicles and insert documentation or scan VINs as required./liliLog/scan processed work into computer programs or tracking systems as required./liliRead and match VIN numbers (including VIN plate) quickly and accurately to ensure movement of proper vehicles./liliRead, compare, and understand work orders, repair orders, purchase orders, purge sheets, and other documents to complete work./liliVisually verify and inspect vehicles for damage prior to breaking chocks off any vehicle before starting to unload; Document and Submit the damage immediately to the proper platform per Manufacturer./liliSecure/unsecure customer vehicles to railcars using approved chocks and tie-downs as required; store any additional chocks and tie-downs in accordance with AAR standards./liliOpen or close railcar doors./liliRaise and lower railcar decks./liliLift, set and pin bridge plates and uninstall bridge plates as required./liliResponsible for junction spacing to ARR standards using proper equipment./liliOperate and set buck ramps and stationery loading/unloading ramps./liliKeep work areas, vans, appropriate work attire, etc. clean and neat/liliAttend monthly safety meetings./liliOther duties as assigned./li/ulpMinimum Requirements/pulliAbility to adhere to strict production, safety, and quality standards without variance/liliAbility to climb ladders and work at a height approximately 15-20 feet above the ground/liliAbility to lift 55 pounds overhead frequently/liliAbility to push, pull or carry up to 75 pounds/liliAbility to work outdoors, 100% of the time, in all weather conditions (often extreme) for extended periods/liliAbility to stand, walk and work in confined spaces for extended periods of time for up to a 1012-hour shift (sometimes split shift)./liliAbility to get in and out of vehicle drivers door with minimal door opening clearance/liliAbility to use company-provided technological equipment to assist in job duties/liliAbility to function effectively under pressure as crews work together on production standards to complete work safely and timely without incident/liliAbility to verbally communicate with others effectively; work as a team with good interpersonal skills/liliAbility to judge distances/liliMust have the ability to maintain a good sense of balance/liliAbility to climb up and down railcar ladders at a 90-degree angle multiple times per shift while maintaining 3 points of contact for safety./liliAbility to pass Drivers Safety Test, Rail Safety Test and Rail Loading/Unloading Ramp quiz with 90% or higher/liliAbility to read and match numbers quickly and accurately/liliAbility to differentiate between colors for vehicle identification/liliAbility to read and understand location cards and work orders/liliAbility to read, understand and interpret SDS manuals/liliAbility to write, read, and comprehend basic English/liliAbility to drive standard and automatic automobiles/liliAbility to follow directions, both written and verbal/liliKnowledge of the use of hand tools (i.e., wrenches, screw drivers, ratchets, etc.)/liliMust have a valid drivers license; good driving record with the ability to maintain the same/liliMust pass AWCT pre-placement background clearances including pre-employment drug screening, HPE/POET physical demand testing/liliMust be able to obtain and maintain e-RAILSAFE/e-Verifile clearances as required by the AWCT customer or Equivalent./liliHigh School Diploma and/or GED/liliMinimum of two (2) years supervisory experience in automotive manufacturing, warehousing, shipping industry with rail loading/unloading experience preferred in a union environment preferred./liliRegular attendance in all weather conditions/liliGood visual and auditory ability/liliMaintain positive behaviors and conduct in the workplace while acting and communicating with others, customers, vendors, co-workers, and management./li/ulpDisclaimer/ppThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
