Job Summary

Join a dedicated surgical team as an Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse in Murphysboro, Illinois. This role involves providing expert nursing care to patients undergoing various surgical procedures within a dynamic hospital environment. You will be an integral part of the surgical services department, contributing to positive patient outcomes from pre-operative assessment through intra-operative care.

The facility features a comprehensive surgical suite, supported by 15 Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) bays, ensuring a continuum of high-quality patient care. You will work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals in a supportive team-oriented setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterile.
• Assist the surgical team during operations by anticipating needs, handling instruments, and maintaining a sterile field.
• Monitor patient's vital signs and physiological status throughout the surgical procedure.
• Administer medications and IV fluids as directed by the surgeon or anesthesiologist.
• Document all aspects of patient care accurately and thoroughly.
• Provide patient advocacy and ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient care.
• Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, including ASPAN standards for patient care within the surgical services department.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience as an Operating Room (OR) RN.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
