Accounting Supervisor

Job Description Performs intermediate field clerical and technical work reading water meters; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Meter Technician Supervisor. This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, and some medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions, and oils. Examples of Duties Reading meters and recording water consumption Removing and replacing meters Preparing and maintaining files and records Reading meters manually or by pit‑probe on an assigned route and recording findings on Interrogator Cutting off, cutting on meters, and installing new meters Keeping records of meters read and reporting meters not accessible for reading Checking that meters and visible plumbing are correctly installed and functioning properly, reporting defects to a superior for further actions and replacing broken meters Making special readings as required Checking meters for malfunctions or leaks Setting meters Meeting with customers to deal with complaints Assisting with training of new meter readers Rereading meters Performing related tasks as required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong customer service General knowledge of the methods and procedures involved in meter reading and utility consumption recording General knowledge of the geography and street locations of the County Ability to write legibly Ability to make simple arithmetical calculations rapidly and accurately Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public Ability to walk for extended periods under varying climatic conditions Education and Experience High school graduation or equivalent; some meter reading experience Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia (current DMV record dated within 30 days) Successfully complete a criminal history and fingerprint check Successfully complete a pre‑employment medical exam and alcohol and controlled substance tests (at County expense) Benefits Full‑time benefits are available. #J-18808-Ljbffr
