Occupational Therapist (OT) | Acute

Location: Avera McKennan Hospital Worker Type: Regular Work Shift: Primarily days with rotating weekends and holidays (United States of America) Pay Range: $34.00 - $51.25 per hour (actual pay rate dependent upon experience). Position Highlights May be eligible for $15,000 sign‑on bonus with a 3‑year commitment. Student Loan Repayment Program: $167 extra payment per month (up to $10,000). 4th weekend off; 1-2 holidays per year. Brief Overview Responsible for the daily coordination and delivery of occupational therapy services focusing on conditions and health diagnoses. Implement specific treatment programs for individual patients and patient groups according to the principles and practices of occupational therapy and department objectives. Key Responsibilities Demonstrates knowledge of age‑specific factors and performs satisfactorily for patients from infants through geriatrics as noted on unit‑specific guidelines and competencies. Develops and implements individualized treatment programs for patients needing services. Evaluates assigned patients by gathering data from patient records, interviews, observations, and team members. Uses selected activities and/or tasks to promote and maintain health and achieve treatment goals. Establishes and modifies intervention goals and strategies based on ongoing evaluations. Provides direct therapy services to patients using functional settings and strategies. Plans therapy within the patient’s individual physical, emotional, and intellectual capabilities and coordinates with rehabilitation, medical, and nursing care plans. Prepares documentation such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress notes, and other reports. Communicates effectively with patient, family, physicians, and other disciplinary team members regarding status, progress, and needs. Establishes rapport and works cooperatively with interdisciplinary team members throughout the intervention program. Enhances professional growth through participation in educational programs, literature, in‑service meetings, workshops, etc., and shares new knowledge with co‑workers. Evaluates and monitors clinical internships with students from various universities and colleges. Participates in program development of the department. Essential Qualifications Must be able to work the specified hours and perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties. Ability to communicate effectively, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds. Required Education & Credentials Occupational Therapist with an active state license. Preferred Education & Credentials 1–3 years of clinical patient care experience.
