Staff Accountant

The Opportunity Pax is partnering with a growing commercial real estate company in Houston to hire a Staff Accountant. This role offers broad exposure across accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial reporting, budgeting, and property accounting while working alongside an experienced leadership team. This isn't a narrow accounting role where you\'ll do the same task every day. You\'ll have the opportunity to learn the business, improve processes, and become a trusted partner across the organization. What You'll Do Manage accounts receivable, including processing deposits, monitoring receivable balances, generating reports, and supporting tenant payment processes. Review monthly property financials and help ensure accurate financial reporting across the portfolio. Monitor cash balances and assist with budgeting, reconciliations, and year-end accounting activities. Process accounts payable invoices, vendor payments, and maintain vendor documentation. Support property tax reporting, 1099 preparation, and other recurring accounting processes. Partner with third-party accounting teams to answer questions, provide feedback, and ensure accounting work is completed accurately and on time. Maintain organized financial records and continuously look for ways to improve accounting processes and efficiency. Who We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. 1–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in commercial real estate, property management, construction, or another multi-entity environment. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. Experience with accounting software such as Yardi or similar ERP systems is a plus. Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams. A proactive, dependable teammate who takes ownership and follows through. Why This Role?
