Staff Accountant

Staff AccountantCasper is looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant who can help keep our financials running like a dream. In this role, you'll support month-end close activities, financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit preparation while collaborating cross-functionally to ensure accurate records and smooth processes. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical, organizational, and Excel skills, along with a solid understanding of GAAP and a passion for keeping the numbers from losing sleep.Casper believes everyone should sleep better. Sleepers can shop online, visit one of our 40+ retail locations across the United States, or find us through a growing network of trusted retail partners.This is a hybrid role, requiring that you work 4 days per week from our Richmond, VA office.When you're not catching zzz's, this is what you'll do…Assist in month end close (i.e., prepare work papers for schedules for monthly reconciliations)Prepare monthly journal entries and maintain workbooks for various areas including but not limited to: Operating expenses, utilities and rent, fixed assets, and other areasPrepare account level analyses and reconciliations to support amountsDetermine certain appropriate accruals for current period reportingReconcile accrual schedules and prepaid schedules to the General LedgerExecute financial statement analysis and document meaningful explanations for fluctuations and analyticsAssist in annual financial audits, including preparing audit schedules and responding to audit inquiries and PBC listsMaintain documentation on the company's accounting policies, best practices, and SOP'sWork cross functionally and coordinate within Finance team as well as with various business owners on month end close process, and help drive key system initiatives and improvementsOther ad hoc assignments as requiredOur dream candidate has…BA/BS in accounting or finance2-3 years of experience in a similar environmentWillingness to extend themselves and assist other peopleUnderstanding of GAAPIntermediate to advanced Excel skillsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsGood planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize workStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong attention to detailAbility to work in a dynamic environmentNice-to-have:Prior experience with an E-commerce and/or manufacturing entityExposure to JDE, SAP, or other large ERP systemA mix of public and private experienceCPA or CPA track a plus, but not requiredTargeted Annual Base Salary Range: $65,000-75,000 USDCasper's compensation philosophy ensures that the actual base salary is based on factors including but not limited to skills, education, experience, special training, time in position, and/or years of service.We recognize that annual base salary is just one part of a total rewards package.
