Programming Manager– Dementia / Senior Adult Day Program

Town Square Adult Day – Fort Mill, SC

Town Square Adult Day is seeking an energetic, creative, and highly organized Programming Manager to coordinate our daily engagement program for older adults living with dementia.

Town Square is a specialized adult day program designed specifically for individuals with dementia. Our unique 1950s-inspired environment includes multiple activity spaces where members participate in structured, meaningful programming throughout the day.

We are looking for someone who understands that great dementia programming is much more than filling an activity calendar. The right person knows how to create engaging programming for individuals with different cognitive and functional abilities and adapt activities to meet members' changing needs and interests.

What You'll Do

• Plan, coordinate, and organize the overall daily activities and engagement program
• Develop programming appropriate for varying stages of dementia and functional ability
• Create monthly activity calendars and coordinate special events
• Ensure activities are well planned, appropriately supplied, and ready for implementation
• Incorporate music, movement, games, art, cognitive stimulation, socialization, reminiscence, and other meaningful activities
• Evaluate programming and modify activities based on member interests, abilities, and engagement
• Provide direction and guidance regarding activity programming while having no formal employee supervisory responsibilities
• Lead and participate in activities directly when needed. This position is not expected to personally facilitate every activity throughout the day; direct activity leadership will vary according to daily census, staffing levels, and operational needs
• Be prepared to step into activity facilitation when coverage is needed or when additional support would benefit member engagement
• Collaborate closely with the Executive Director and care team
• Maintain appropriate activity documentation and assist with regulatory and program requirements
• Communicate professionally with members, families, and colleagues
• Help maintain a positive, welcoming, and engaging environment
• Drive Town Square vehicles as needed to assist with member transportation, outings, and other program needs
• Assist members safely when entering and exiting vehicles and follow all transportation and safety procedures

Who We're Looking For - Our ideal candidate is:

• Experienced working with older adults, preferably individuals with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias
• Creative, enthusiastic, dependable, and comfortable taking initiative
• Highly organized and able to manage activity calendars, supplies, events, and competing priorities
• Comfortable leading individual and group activities when needed
• Able to coordinate an activity program without formal staff-management responsibilities
• Patient and able to engage and redirect individuals experiencing cognitive impairment
• A strong communicator and collaborative team member
• Flexible and willing to assist directly with programming and transportation as census and staffing needs change
• Comfortable driving passenger vehicles and transporting older adults

A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required.

Experience in adult day services, memory care, assisted living, recreation, therapeutic recreation, senior programming, education, social services, or a related field is strongly preferred.

What Matters Most

The Programming Manager is responsible for the organization, quality, creativity, and consistency of Town Square's activity program. This does not mean personally leading every scheduled activity. On appropriately staffed days, the position will focus more heavily on planning, coordination, preparation, documentation, and program development. When census or staffing requires additional hands-on support, the Programming Manager is expected to step in and lead or participate in activities alongside the team.

We are looking for someone who understands both sides of the position: developing an excellent dementia-focused activity program and being willing to jump in and engage members directly when needed.
