Gold Mirror Italian Restaurant is a San Francisco dining institution known for authentic Italian and Sicilian cuisine, warm hospitality, and a strong connection with our guests and community.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Front-of-House General Manager to join our leadership team and help lead the next chapter of Gold Mirror.

This is an important leadership position for someone who understands that exceptional restaurants are built through great hospitality, strong teams, consistent standards, and attention to detail.

The Role

The FOH General Manager will be responsible for leading all front-of-house operations while working closely with Ownership and the Executive Chef.

This is a hands-on leadership position . The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys being on the floor, interacting with guests, developing employees, solving problems, and setting the standard for the entire service team.

The GM will also have overall responsibility for restaurant payroll, FOH scheduling, labor management, and staffing , while working with Ownership and management to ensure the restaurant operates efficiently and profitably.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, motivate, coach, and develop the front-of-house team.

• Recruit, interview, hire, train, and mentor FOH employees.

• Establish and maintain clear standards for service, professionalism, and hospitality.

• Create a positive, accountable, and team-oriented workplace culture.

• Conduct ongoing service training and pre-shift meetings.

• Monitor employee performance and provide constructive feedback.

Guest Experience & Hospitality

• Lead by example and create a consistently exceptional guest experience.

• Maintain a visible presence on the dining room floor.

• Develop relationships with regular guests and our local community.

• Handle guest concerns professionally and effectively.

• Ensure that Gold Mirror's standards of hospitality are maintained throughout every service.

Restaurant Operations, Payroll & Scheduling

• Oversee daily front-of-house operations and service flow.

• Be responsible for all restaurant payroll , including reviewing employee hours, timekeeping, payroll records, adjustments, and ensuring payroll is accurate and submitted on time.

• Oversee FOH employee scheduling , ensuring appropriate staffing levels based on business volume, reservations, private events, and anticipated sales.

• Monitor overall restaurant labor costs and staffing levels.

• Manage floor plans, sections, reservations, waitlists, and table turns.

• Coordinate closely with the kitchen and culinary team to ensure smooth and efficient service.

• Work with management to ensure appropriate BOH staffing and payroll information is accurately tracked and submitted.

• Oversee opening and closing procedures.

• Maintain high standards for cleanliness, organization, presentation, and professionalism.

• Ensure compliance with company policies and operational procedures.

Sales & Financial Performance

• Drive food and beverage sales through strong service and hospitality.

• Monitor restaurant-wide labor costs and identify opportunities for greater efficiency.

• Help manage beverage sales, inventory, and purchasing.

• Review sales and labor performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

• Work with Ownership to achieve sales, labor, and operational goals.

• Support the development of private dining, special events, and large-party business.

Private Dining & Events

• Oversee private dining, buyouts, special events, and large parties.

• Work directly with guests to ensure events are organized and executed successfully.

• Help identify and develop opportunities to increase private event revenue.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• 3+ years of restaurant management or General Manager experience, preferably in an upscale or full-service restaurant.

• Strong knowledge of front-of-house restaurant operations.

• Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, motivate, and retain employees.

• Experience creating and managing FOH staff schedules.

• Experience overseeing restaurant-wide payroll , timekeeping, and labor management.

• Strong communication and leadership skills.

• A genuine passion for hospitality and guest service.

• Experience with restaurant sales, labor management, and cost controls.

• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

• A professional and confident presence with guests and employees.

• The ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.

• Required California food safety and responsible beverage certifications.
