Licensed Practical Nurse - Family Practice

Job Summary Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) assists physicians by reviewing records, preparing patients and exam rooms, and handling prescription renewals and inquiries. Location: Methodist Physicians Clinic – Gretna, NE (11946 Standing Stone Drive). Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm. Sign‑on bonus: $2,500. Responsibilities Document all lab, procedures, and appointments on tracking forms; follow up on missed appointments and procedures. Assist Health Coaches by working patient lists and scheduling appointments as directed. Provide patient and family education per provider directions and recommend community resources. Perform telephone triage to determine patient needs; record and report patient condition to the provider; advise patient as instructed; return calls within 90 minutes. Maintain healthy environmental conditions by cleaning and organizing equipment and rooms. Handle prescription renewals and inquiries; discuss questions with provider and relay information to pharmacy. Prepare exam rooms and equipment to facilitate treatment and examination of patients. Review medical records, weigh patient, check vital signs, perform medication reconciliation, and obtain relevant information before the provider exam. Assist providers by retrieving tests, medical records, and lab work as directed. Dispense medications as directed by provider and provide education on medication use. Assist and/or perform phlebotomy with proper labeling and handling of specimens; complete requisitions and document quality control activities. Ensure accuracy of order entry and complete appropriate documentation without error (≥98%). Answer phone calls and return phone messages following protocol (≥98%). Provide test results according to protocol. Accurately complete pharmacy refill requests. Qualifications Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing school. Experience: Previous LPN experience preferred; phlebotomy experience required (floor only). Licenses/Certifications: Current valid LPN license and valid compact multi‑state license or temporary permit; American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred at hire and required within three months. Knowledge: Medical terminology and procedures; recognition and diagnosis of diseases, deformities, and other illnesses. Skills: Time‑management; proficient computer typing; patient‑centered communication; critical listening; problem solving; flexibility; ability to navigate computer programs containing patient information; strong verbal communication; ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Physical requirements: Exert up to 50lb; perform specified activities as required. Job hazards: Exposure to biological agents (bloodborne viruses), sharps, and other physical hazards typical of a clinical environment.
