Accounting Manager

Finance and Accounting Manager - BrocktonDiamond Antenna and Microwave Corporation is seeking an Accounting Manager at our Antenna Associates, Inc. facility in Brockton, MA with Actual Cost and Cost Accounting expertise to support a growing defense-oriented manufacturing organization. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting operations, and driving cost accounting discipline across manufacturing, inventory, labor, and program performance. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting knowledge with hands-on manufacturing finance experience in an engineered product environment. Experience with actual cost systems, inventory valuation, job costing, indirect rates, and government contracting environments is highly desired.This position will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, and Executive Leadership to improve financial visibility, support operational decision-making, and strengthen internal controls.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Accounting & Financial ManagementManage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activitiesPrepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedulesMaintain general ledger accuracy and chart of accounts integritySupport preparation of financial statements and management reporting packagesAssist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysisEnsure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policiesCoordinate external audit support and tax-related deliverablesActual Cost & Cost AccountingOwn and maintain the company's Actual Cost accounting processes and methodologiesAnalyze material, labor, burden, and overhead absorption performanceReview and monitor manufacturing variances, including:Labor variancesMaterial purchase price variancesUsage/scrap variancesOver/under absorbed overheadInventory valuation variancesMaintain and improve job costing and manufacturing cost tracking systemsPartner with Operations to ensure accurate labor reporting, inventory transactions, and production costingAnalyze margins and profitability by product line, customer, and programSupport standard-to-actual cost reconciliation activities where applicableAssist in development and monitoring of indirect rates (Overhead, G&A, etc.)Support DCAA-compliant accounting practices and government contract cost reporting as neededInventory & Manufacturing FinanceMonitor inventory valuation accuracy and reservesSupport cycle count programs and annual physical inventory activitiesReview WIP balances and manufacturing close processesImprove financial controls surrounding inventory movement and manufacturing transactionsWork with Operations leadership to improve financial visibility into production performanceSystems & Process ImprovementSupport ERP system maintenance and financial process improvementsHelp drive automation and reporting enhancementsDevelop and maintain financial dashboards and KPI reportingImprove accounting workflows, controls, and documentationKey CompetenciesStrong Actual Cost and manufacturing cost accounting knowledge in the aerospace and defense manufacturing industryUnderstanding of inventory accounting and job costingAnalytical and detail-oriented mindsetStrong organizational and problem-solving skillsAbility to work cross-functionally with manufacturing and engineering teamsExcellent communication and leadership abilitiesAbility to operate effectively in a fast-paced growth environmentDiamond Antenna & Microwave Corporation and Antenna Associates, Inc. are an Equal Opportunity-Affirmative Action Employer - Minority / Female / Disability / Veteran / Gender Identity / Sexual Orientation / AgeQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required5+ years of accounting experience in defense manufacturing environments3+ years of cost accounting or manufacturing accounting experience preferredExperience implementing or optimizing an ERP system (Infor Visual, Costpoint, Epicor, LN, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar)Strong Microsoft Excel skills requiredCPA or CMA is a plusPreferred ExperienceDCAA/FAR/CAS exposureManufacturing variance analysisInventory-heavy manufacturing operationsProject or program accountingMulti-site manufacturing environmentsContinuous improvement / process optimization initiativesReporting StructureThis position reports to the Controller / Finance Leadership and works closely with Operations and Executive Management.
