Senior Payroll Specialist

Duration: Contract with potential extension Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to support a high-volume, multi-state payroll operation. This position is ideal for a payroll professional with strong technical expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and experience managing complex payroll processes in a regulated environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring payroll accuracy, tax compliance, reporting integrity, and employee support while collaborating closely with Human Resources, Finance, and other internal stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Process and oversee multi-state payrolls for exempt, non-exempt, seasonal, and contract employees Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations Assist with payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and related reporting requirements Support internal and external payroll audits Review and maintain employee payroll records, including new hire setup and employee separations Research, troubleshoot, and resolve payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies Manage payroll adjustments, off-cycle payments, terminations, and other special payroll transactions Generate payroll, tax, labor, and compliance reports as needed Support timekeeping and timesheet correction processes Collaborate proactively with HR, Finance, and Benefits teams to ensure seamless payroll operations Assist with workers' compensation administration and reporting Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee information Identify process improvements and help strengthen payroll controls and compliance practices Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience 10+ years of payroll processing experience 5+ years supporting payroll within a government contracting or highly regulated environment Extensive experience processing multiple payroll cycles across numerous states Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations, compliance requirements, and payroll accounting principles Experience with enterprise payroll systems such as Dayforce, Ceridian, Costpoint, or similar platforms Proven ability to manage complex payroll issues while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and customer service abilities High level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Preferred Qualifications Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification Experience supporting payroll audits and compliance reviews Advanced reporting and payroll reconciliation experience Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Additional Information Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite and 2 days remote Immediate need with a targeted start date in the coming weeks Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned payroll professional to join a collaborative team and contribute to a complex, high-volume payroll environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr Green Key Resources
