Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant (Contract) Location: Charlotte, NC (Southwest) Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite Job Type: Contract Pay: $40/hour - $47/hour About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join client’s team on a contract basis. This role will play a critical part in supporting the month-end close process, preparing and reviewing account reconciliations, and ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities Lead and support month-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules. Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items timely. Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and other key financial accounts. Analyze financial results and investigate variances and discrepancies. Maintain supporting documentation and schedules for audit readiness. Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports. Partner with accounting and operational teams to improve processes and efficiencies. Support external audits and provide requested documentation as needed. Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies. Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Strong experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting. Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis. Experience with ERP systems and accounting software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Experience Prior experience in a senior accountant or lead accountant capacity. Experience supporting audits and financial statement preparation. Track record of identifying process improvements and increasing efficiency within accounting operations.
