Job Location Duke Dermatology Dawson Hall – 77 Vilcom Center Dr, Chapel Hill, NC. Job Summary We are seeking a Medical Assistant in our Duke Dermatology Dawson Hall clinic located in Chapel Hill, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team to provide direct and indirect care to patients. Job Duties And Responsibilities Perform a variety of routine duties in a hospital clinic to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients, including obtaining and recording data for medical records, collecting and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis, and undressing, cleansing, and positioning patients for specific procedures. Perform routine examination and treatment procedures, including administering enemas, removing casts, cleaning wounds, and applying medications and dressings. Set up and clean examination rooms, change linen, make beds, set up instruments and equipment for specific procedures, hand instruments, supplies, and equipment to the examining physician. Pick up and deliver specimens, equipment, messages, and supplies as directed; maintain inventory of supplies in examination rooms and replenish as required. Escort and transport patients to various hospital locations; schedule patient appointments and prepare related records. Maintain a clean and orderly work area; wash and sterilize a variety of medical supplies. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Job Eligibility Requirements Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred. High school diploma or GED required. Master of Biomedical Science required. EMT‑B required. Work generally requires six months of experience in the healthcare setting. Education in a health‑related field can be used as a substitute for the experience. Must be fully certified as a Medical Assistant (AAMA, AMT, NHA‑CCMA, NCMA or ARMA) within 18 months of hire. Job Hours The schedule for this position is day shifts.
