MKS2 is seeking a Critical Operations Engineer II to work the day shift (7:00 am – 3:30 pm, Tuesday‑Saturday) in Denver, CO. Critical Operations Engineer II Location: Denver, CO, United States – exact address will be specified during interview. Salary Range: $38.00 – $43.00 per hour. Responsibilities Act as a data center subject‑matter expert for electrical, mechanical, controls, and fire life safety systems. Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in electrical, mechanical, communications, building monitoring, and control systems. Track and trend operational characteristics; manage preventive and predictive maintenance schedules with the Data Center Manager. Mentor junior staff and provide guidance on mechanical and electrical maintenance requirements. Analyze current operating conditions and recommend new technologies to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Prevent unplanned, customer‑impacting outages; manage mechanical loading capacity on the data floor. Develop and write procedures for preventive or corrective maintenance activities. Maintain the CMMS system, work‑order completion, and asset inventory; ensure SLA compliance. Provide day‑to‑day exceptional customer service and support; coordinate with contractors. Escalate incidents, write reports, and monitor the building fire alarm system. Perform regular security tours, document findings, and respond to issues. Adhere to CoreSite’s Principles of Operational Excellence and guiding principles. Qualifications Knowledge: Expert understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in data center environments (e.g., electrical distribution, transformers, PLCs, UPS, STS, PDU, chilled‑water, CRAC/CRAH, pre‑action sprinklers), NEC, NFPA 70E/72/25, fiber optics, industrial safety, and data‑trending systems. Skills: Minimum of 5–7 years installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting large commercial and industrial systems; proven leadership; fiber and copper cabling installation; IT hardware and networking troubleshooting; strong written and oral communication; proficiency in Microsoft Office. Abilities: Communicate with customers and staff; coordinate and supervise contractors; quick learning and problem solving; multi‑tasking; operate hand and power tools; perform electrical testing; work independently and within a process‑driven team. Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent; 5+ years in critical facilities (data center, hospital, power plant); ability to pass comprehensive background check. Physical Demands Stand 1/3–2/3 of time, walk 1/3–2/3, sit 1/3–2/3, climb, stoop, kneel, reach with hands, use hands to type, see at close distance, lift up to 50 lb 1/3 of time; work in high‑stress, fast‑paced environment; willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, and on‑call support. Compensation Base salary $38.00–$43.00 per hour; eligible for annual bonus and equity based on performance.
