Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United StatesSalary: $150,098.40 - 225,147.60Company: AstraZenecaPosted: 2026-09-10Associate Director Strategic Planning & Execution, US Medical AffairsThe Associate Director Strategic Planning & Execution, US Medical Affairs is responsible for the execution of strategic initiatives within the US Medical Affairs organization and will partner with TA Leadership teams and cross functionally to execute on projects in line with the functions overall strategic goals. This position will analyze, resolve, and communicate on key strategic programs allowing for US Medical Affairs Leadership to make informed decisions that will contribute to the overall success of the function. This position will apply good project management techniques to insure in scope, on-time, on budget results.You will be responsible for:Strategic Partnership:Develop annual enterprise strategy for assigned TA and/or Function and ensure effective, efficient, and equitable delivery of key strategic programs and operational activitiesOversight of business progress against performance targets through outcomes and metrics tracking/reportingHighlight and communicate US Medical impact and effectiveness throughout all levels of the organizationProactively apply business acumen to ensure business continuity and identify future opportunitiesFinancial Reporting:Liaise between Finance and assigned TA and/or Function to communicate details of operating plan and to track/report on spendLead annual budget plan, quarterly reforecasts, and various ad-hoc financial requests, identifying key opportunities and risksPartner with assigned TA and/or Functional team to provide detailed financial reports, reconcile monthly accruals, and ensure timely receiptsManage financial analysis and trend reporting for senior leadership and cross-functional partnersDevelop various training documents, liaising with USMA colleagues to ensure their full understanding of Alexion's financial processesOperations:Facilitate strategic cross-functional meetings for increased collaboration across global medical, patient advocacy, commercial, and HEORManage system improvements/enhancements with a focus on continuous improvementLiaise with Compliance and Legal to resolve questions and mitigate riskOversight of P2P activities for all projects for assigned TA and/or Function, including contract review and execution in alignment with Alexion policiesFacilitate vendor onboarding, MSA generation, and SOW development with internal and external stakeholdersOversee the TA tactical plans and activity towards plan, develop primary and secondary tactics strategy and metrics reporting to plan. Actively communicate with Key stakeholders from inception through execution and monitoring of plan.Other strategic projects as assignedYou will need to have:Bachelor's degree requiredMinimum 5 years in the pharmaceutical industry in a Medical Affairs organizationProject management certification strongly preferredStrong knowledge of Compliance and Legal requirements in the Biopharma spaceFP&A experience preferred, with proven ability to manage annual budget/forecastsSelf-starter with strong leadership, problem solving, and negotiating skillsHighly influential with proven ability to create/lead successful cross-functional teamsAbility to interact professionally with all levels of the organizationFlexibility to adapt to changing project scopeExcellent analytical and communication skills, both oral and writtenDemonstrated energy and enthusiasm, bringing a positive approach to all challengesHighly ethical, with ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive informationMeeting facilitation skills (personal organization, advanced preparation, follow-up)Strong teamwork and collaboration skillsA continuous improvement mindsetThe duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program.
