Details Neuro Intensive Care Unit setting within a teaching hospital Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30), 36 hours per week Every other weekend required (Friday and Saturday nights) Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity Uses Epic EMR Utilizes ventilators, intracranial pressure monitoring, and telemetry equipment Requirements Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications only) Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with strong Neuro ICU background preferred Previous travel nursing experience required Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program Skilled in IV starts, arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, and blood product administration Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula Proficient in neurological care including CVA/stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery care, and traumatic brain and spinal cord injury management Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition Experience with continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips IV insulin protocol experience required Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted Additional Information Provide critical care nursing to complex neurological and neurosurgical patients Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines Candidates located outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location shortly after booking Candidates at extreme distances will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet to complete urgently Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for traveler positions Requested time off must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less First-time travelers will be considered but should be screened for readiness American Traveler Job ID P-732939.
