Certified First Assistant In Surgery (CFA)This position is part-time, working 24 hours per week, Monday through Friday with a rotating day off and call-stay.***SIGN-ON BONUS: $7500***External applicants may be eligible for a sign-on bonus with a one-year work commitment. This includes previously employed applicants who have been gone from the organization longer than 90 days.The Certified First Assistant in Surgery (CFA) provides assistance to the surgeon or group of surgeons during an operative procedure as a first or second assistant providing aid in exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions that will help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient.Responsibilities And Duties:Provides assistance to the surgeon providing exposure, hemostasis, and other technical skills. Provides wound exposure through proper use of retractors so surgeon may clearly view operative site. Through use of suction and sponges, provides a dry field of operation to permit optimum vision of tissue, viscera, vessels, etc. Provides hemostasis by use of clamps, cautery, ligation Completes closure of fascia, subcutaneous tissue and skin under the direction of the surgeon Competent in 4-6 service lines, one of which must be advanced orthopedics, soft tissue robotics, complex cardiovascular, or neurosurgery (cranial). Assumes other tasks of a similar nature or level of responsibility when assigned by supervising physician.
