This contract position invites an experienced School Social Worker to join a deeply committed educational community. You will serve approximately 40 students across two elementary schools and one preschool classroom, providing specialized services that foster resilience, growth, and engagement in young learners.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Approval and credentialing as a School Social Worker by the Michigan Department of Education is required
• Demonstrated experience working with elementary and/or preschool-aged children in a school setting
• Strong understanding of academic, social, and emotional development for children
• Proficiency in implementing individualized intervention plans and conducting student assessments
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with educators, families, and support staff
• Passion for advocating on behalf of students and contributing to a positive school environment

Role and Responsibilities:

• Offer direct and indirect social work services on-site, supporting the success and holistic wellbeing of students
• Conduct comprehensive assessments and provide crisis intervention, counseling, and case management as needed
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams to identify students requiring support and deliver effective interventions
• Serve as a liaison between home, school, and community resources to ensure seamless support for students and families
• Empower students to develop coping skills, problem-solving strategies, and positive peer relationships
• Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in compliance with school and district policies

This is a full-time contract role, offering 37.5 hours per week from late October 2026 through mid-May 2027. You’ll work onsite, immersed in the daily life of the school community, where your expertise will be highly valued.
