Chef Ania’s Gourmet Cuisine is a busy catering company located in Long Island City, Queens, offering catering for production crews across NYC. We are currently seeking an experienced and ambitious Sous Chef to take the lead in our kitchen team. The ideal candidate should have a true passion for food, excellent leadership abilities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Delegate tasks and oversee food preparation during catering events.
- Maintain a positive and professional kitchen culture.
- Ensure kitchen staff follow company standards and food safety regulations.
- Execute and oversee all cooking techniques, including roasting, grilling, sautéing, braising, and sous vide.
- Ensure food is prepared according to recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
- Handle high-volume cooking while maintaining efficiency and speed.
- Ensure food is properly cooked, packed, and delivered for off-site catering events.
- Monitor ingredient stock levels and assist with ordering supplies.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of food items.
- Minimize food waste and maintain cost efficiency.
- Enforce health and safety regulations in the kitchen.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in all kitchen areas.
- Ensure proper handling of perishable and prepared foods.
- Support & help with menu development
- Involve in hiring staff kitchen
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience as sous chef in catering
- Ability to lead and motivate a team in fast- paced environment
- Knowledge cooking techniques
- Strong knife skills
- Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
- Excellent organizational and time- management skills
- Attention to detail
- A team player with good communication skills
- Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
- Good physical condition and endurance
- Punctual and possess a good attitude
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pound
- Food Handler’s Certification
