Plaintiff’s Attorney – Survivor Advocacy

Chicago, IL | Hybrid – 3 Days In Office | Full-Time

Talent Solutions Group is recruiting an experienced Plaintiff’s Attorney to join the Survivor Advocacy practice of a growing Chicago litigation firm.

This is a meaningful opportunity for an attorney who wants to combine strong litigation skills with work that directly impacts individuals who have experienced sexual assault and abuse.

The attorney will manage a caseload with significant autonomy, handling matters from initial investigation through resolution while developing trusted relationships with clients. The environment is collaborative, but this position is best suited for someone who is comfortable taking ownership and moving cases forward independently.

The Opportunity

You will represent survivors in sensitive, complex civil matters and have meaningful responsibility for your cases.

Responsibilities include:

• Manage approximately 20–30 matters in various stages of litigation and pre-litigation
• Conduct client interviews and maintain consistent, compassionate communication
• Investigate claims and develop case strategy
• Obtain and analyze records, documents, evidence and other case materials
• Identify and interview witnesses
• Draft pleadings, substantive motions, discovery, demand letters and settlement documents
• Handle written discovery
• Prepare clients and witnesses for depositions
• Take and defend depositions
• Participate in hearings, mediations and arbitrations
• Negotiate settlements and related liens
• Work with experts when appropriate
• Collaborate with attorneys and legal support professionals on complex litigation

What We're Looking For

• 4–6 years of civil litigation experience
• Strong litigation fundamentals and ability to independently manage cases
• Excellent legal research and writing skills
• Deposition and discovery experience
• Strong client communication skills
• Sound judgment and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple active matters and competing deadlines
• Empathetic, professional approach to clients dealing with highly sensitive circumstances
• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Illinois

Particularly Relevant Backgrounds

Plaintiff-side civil litigation or personal injury experience is highly desirable, but we're interested in attorneys from several strong litigation backgrounds.

Candidates coming from a:

• Plaintiff's litigation practice
• Personal injury practice
• Sexual assault/abuse or survivor advocacy practice
• U.S. Attorney's Office
• State's Attorney's Office
• Public Defender's Office

are encouraged to apply.

Government attorneys with substantial litigation experience who are interested in transitioning to plaintiff-side civil practice may be particularly well suited for this opportunity.

The Right Person

Technical litigation skills matter, but so does how you work with people.

We're looking for an attorney who can establish trust with clients while remaining a strong and assertive advocate. You should be proactive, curious and comfortable making decisions without requiring extensive oversight.

Experience specifically representing survivors is highly valued, but candidates should also demonstrate the judgment and interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with individuals dealing with extremely sensitive matters.
