About the Position

# Job Opportunity – Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse – Virginia Start Date: October 12, 2026 Location: Charlottesville, Virginia Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants Schedule: 13-week assignment, Night shift, 36 hours per week with every other weekend and every other holiday required. Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays. Highlights: - High-volume Labor & Delivery unit with approximately 2,000 annual deliveries featuring 8 private labor rooms, 4 private triage beds, and 2 OB operating rooms- Care for both low-risk populations including certified nurse midwife patients and high-risk maternal fetal medicine cases- Cross-training opportunities to Mother/Baby unit with potential float to NICU for feeder/grower care- 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratios with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams- Epic EMR system with 36 hours of orientation provided- Up to 40 hours of approved time off available during the contract period Requirements: - Active Virginia RN license (pending license accepted if obtained by Wednesday before start date)- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience- Required Certifications: BLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring, AWHONN Intermediate- Epic charting system experience required- Must be able to circulate for cesarean sections- Flu vaccination required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccination not required- Strong clinical skills in triage of obstetrical patients, antepartum care, labor and delivery, postpartum hemorrhage management, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns Why It's a Great Opportunity: This position offers the chance to work in a robust perinatal program serving diverse patient populations from low-risk midwifery patients to complex maternal-fetal medicine cases.
