School Psychologist Lynchburg City Schools EXCEPTIONAL LEARNERS - Lynchburg, Virginia Open in Google Maps This job is also posted in Lynchburg City Schools Job Details Job ID: 4216387 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Re-Posted: Jan 15, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Job Description School Psychologist GENERAL INFORMATION Title: School Psychologist Department: Exceptional Learners Salary Grade:ADM Pay Schedule 4 FLSA Status: Exempt Site/Location: Exceptional Learners Reports to: Director of Exceptional Learners Date: 01/15/2026 POSITION SUMMARY To provide psychological services with in the school division in accordance with the policies of the School Board ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Consult with central office staff, school-based staff, parents and other appropriate persons to agencies to increase their understanding of referred students and to assist in making recommendations for their optimal growth Conducts in-services, workshops or consultative conferences for central office and/or school-based personnel, and as appropriate for parents and public or private agencies, in areas of mutual concern Assists in providing liaison services between the school division and the mental health clinic, social services, family court and other community agencies which provide special services for children and their families Conducts research to acquire information which will assist in enhancing psychological services and the educational process Participates in legal appeals and hearings regarding students who have been evaluated psychologically or are in special education programs Administrators and interprets individual psychological and psycho-educational testing to referred students for the assessment of intelligence, personality, aptitude, achievement and perception as appropriate Provides crisis and non-crisis interventions including consultation, individual and group counseling and assistance in developing behavioral programs Participates in school-based or division wide committee or meetings for the exchange of information which would contribute to the enhancement of the education process or the awareness of the needs of specific children and their educational growth Participates in school-based School Consultation Team meetings upon request from the building administrator Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education LYNCHBURG CITY SCHOOLS COMPETENCIES Personal Competencies Honesty Integrity Ethical Equity Minded Emotional Intelligence Cultural Competence Safety Quality Leadership Competencies Models Excellent Customer Service Think Strategically Shows Initiative Acts Decisively Communicates Effectively Works Collaboratively Resolves Conflict Proactively Functional Competencies Technical Capabilities Computer Literacy Data Analysis and Management Fiscal Planning and Management Project Management Strategic Planning EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Health Board License as a School Psychologist KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Interprets and communicates the results of individual assessments and the recommendations developed from them through written reports to central office staff, principals, teachers, parents and other public and/or private agencies as required by policy and/or by law SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY This is a 11 month contract position with full benefits.
