To learn more, visit SUMMARYReporting directly to the Director of Human Resources (HR) Operations, the Manager, Human Resources Operations will play a vital role in refining Alliance’s human resource functions to better serve all Alliance staff, both at the Home Office and our school sites. The Manager, HR will lead key aspects of HR operations, with a specific focus on the staff life cycle from entry to exit, including onboarding, benefits, leaves, exits, required trainings, special assignments or duties, vacancy projections, and workers’ compensation for a portfolio of schools or Home Office teams. While leading this work, the Manager, HR will identify opportunities to improve efficiency and ensure “best in class” customer service. The Manager, HR will also ensure Alliance is in compliance with all federal and state laws, and ensure we are implementing Alliance policies with fidelity.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESHR Expertise and LeadershipReview and refine the onboarding and exiting processes to ensure all staff members in the portfolio of schools or Home Office teams experience excellent HR customer service at the start and conclusion of their employment.Lead and facilitate the interactive accommodation process for staff within their assigned portfolio, evaluate medical documentation, partner with school leadership and HR leadership to identify reasonable workplace accommodations under ADA/FEHA, track implementation, and ensure compliance and consistent support across sites.Coordinate with the Associate of Leaves on leave requests (FMLA, CFRA, personal, etc.) and workers’ compensation claims, including ensuring the timely reporting of all employee injuries within the portfolio of schools or Home Office teams.Provide expertise and oversight on key HR-related issues including required trainings, special assignments or duties, vacancy projections, maintaining credentials of certified staff, etc. within the portfolio of schools or Home Office teams.Project and Systems ManagementDevelop operational plans, with clear and measurable goals that align with Alliance’s larger HR and talent strategy, initiatives, and organizational priorities.Ensure integrity and timely processing of all HR transactions, tickets, and adherence with record retention laws and industry standards within a portfolio of schools or Home Office teams.Document administrative procedures and policies; evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency as necessary.Provide required information for all audits and produce compliance reports for a portfolio of schools or Home Office teams.Review suitable application of policies and procedures to all staff, regardless of position or status within a portfolio of schools or Home Office teams.Leads and manages the project plan for one of the designated core projects:Oversight Compliance: HR compliance and oversight; drive annual staff safety/compliance training rollouts, oversee progress tracking and suspension/termination protocols, and audit ESSA grids, rosters, and vendor records for compliance submissions.Summer School Operations: End-to-end project plan for the HR summer school process; direct setup timelines, manage Workday position creation and EIB uploads, coordinate credentialing alignment, issue summer memos, and ensure accurate timekeeping and pay processing.Beginning of the Year (BOY) Hires: July/August new hires, New Staff Orientation (NSO); Annual New Staff Orientation; direct cross-functional steering committee logistics, coordinate cohort scheduling, deliver HR/benefits presentations, manage NSO workflows, and oversee post-orientation feedback and stepback reviews and August - One Alliance Day (OAD) hires.Customer Service and Problem-Solving ApproachModel and facilitate “best in class” customer service standards aimed at delivering high-quality HR support to all school and Home Office staff within portfolio.Monitor the resolution of complex staff concerns related to their employment, wages, policies, and health and wellness plans within a portfolio of schools or Home Office teams.Work collaboratively with other departments, such as Payroll, School Operations, School Staffing, and Performance Management, to ensure operations are effective and efficient.Perform additional related duties as assigned.IDEAL CANDIDATESCommitment to Alliance’s core beliefs and educational philosophy.Knowledge of urban school environments and school culture.Successful leadership experience in Human Resources and deep knowledge of state and federal labor laws and employment provisions.Ability to work effectively in a multi-layered organization and build strong relationships with teachers, coaches, school leaders and other Home Office and school-based colleagues.Exceptional project management skills and experience in a context of competing priorities with limited resources and infrastructure.Strong people management skills with a successful track record of leading teams to excellent outcomes.Proficient use of Microsoft Office, human resource information systems (HRIS), and Google-based applications.Entrepreneurial spirit to thrive in a fast-paced and achievement-oriented environment.Willingness to go above and beyond to contribute to the success of a dynamic team committed to a new future for urban education.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university3+ years of professional work experience in human resources, accommodations, employee or labor relations, or a related fieldNote: We will consider candidates with only a high school diploma or equivalent if they have 5+ years of professional work experience in human resources, accommodations, employee or labor relations, or a related fieldBENEFITSIn alignment with our commitment to equity for our scholars, Alliance is dedicated to promoting equity and transparency within our team, offering competitive salaries commensurate with experience, as well as generous retirement and health benefits. Home Office staff are allocated $500 per year for professional development expenses.WORK LOCATIONThis position is a hybrid role which will include a combination of working from home, our network office, and travel to school sites.
