All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool which is available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case a need arises during the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as-needed basis. Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline and providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses. The role also involves mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom, creating and maintaining an effective learning environment across varying modalities such as face-to-face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or dual credit instruction. Hours vary depending on the needs and course schedules and may include day, evening, and weekend instruction. All faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures. Required Education All faculty members must provide minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) credential standards, normally including an earned Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline. Transcripts, certificates, and/or licenses must be submitted with application. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes. Engage in instructional preparation. Provide timely feedback and response to student communications. Assess student performance and submit final grades in a timely fashion. Maintain ethical and professional behavior; be available to students by appointment. Attend adjunct faculty meetings. Assess courses at departmental and institutional levels. Complete any required training and other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to instruct in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses. Ability to provide instruction that achieves the specific goals and objectives of all assigned courses. Ability to create a professional and effective learning environment. Excellent communication skills with students, staff, and the public. Commitment to treating all persons with respect, dignity, and justice without discrimination.
