Overview Critical Facilities are becoming more diverse as technology advances, creating a market shift. Gensler’s broad expertise in multiple practice areas gives our Critical Facilities practice a unique edge. Beyond data centers, our Critical Facilities team delivers high‑performance projects for research, super‑computing, command and control centers, SCIFs, distribution and logistics, high‑tech manufacturing, and various other technology‑rich project types. As a Gensler Architect, you will collaborate with our design team to develop innovative design solutions and coordinate the design through the construction documentation phase. You will translate sketches and documents into realized 2‑D/3‑D models and images, research artistic and technical issues, and leverage technical acumen and Revit skills to drive client projects from concept through build in a collaborative team. Your role is critical in the design and delivery of world‑class projects. Responsibilities Collaborate with the Critical Facilities team to deliver informed project solutions based on market expertise and an understanding of client goals. Coordinate documentation with consultants (structural, MEP, lighting, AV, acoustical, accessibility, building envelope, life safety, etc.). Coordinate with the project team, client, vendors, contractors, and consultants. Resolve complex technical and design issues with the team to produce innovative, technical, constructible solutions. Direct production of drawings, specifications, and construction administration tasks. Ensure delivery of documents with design intent and top‑notch technical quality. Process submittals and substitution requests during construction and address RFIs. Interface with building and permitting officials during the permitting and construction phases. Actively participate and contribute to the financial performance of the project. Review and contribute to proposals and contracts with the Design Manager. Establish and maintain ongoing, productive client relationships. Qualifications Registered Architect required. Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program required. 5+ years of related experience, including demonstrated success or interest in working on critical facilities projects. Strong proficiency in Revit, 3D modeling, visualization, and graphic software. Full knowledge of architectural principles and practices. Working knowledge of building codes, standards, and building structures. Experience with the entire project lifecycle and design process through post‑occupancy. Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development. Well‑rounded, strategic thinker with an integrated approach to design, management, and technical project resolution who can help shape a vision for the future.
