EHS Generalist

Support environmental, health, and safety compliance for an advanced engineering and manufacturing site. This role develops and improves practical EHS programs, performs inspections and investigations, and partners with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to reduce risk and strengthen compliance.

The best fit is an early-career EHS professional with a relevant bachelor's degree, hands-on exposure to industrial safety or environmental compliance, and working knowledge of Cal/OSHA, EPA, industrial hygiene, and ANSI requirements. The person must be comfortable moving between the floor, laboratories, offices, and cross-functional meetings.

Location: Goleta, CA; local travel to other company sites, including Lompoc, may be required

Pay Rate: $37.50-$43.50 per hour, depending on experience

Responsibilities

• Develop, manage, implement, and continuously improve assigned environmental, occupational health, and safety programs in an engineering and manufacturing environment.
• Support programs that may include ergonomics, environmental compliance, Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), contractor safety, fall protection, machine guarding, powered industrial trucks, hazard communication, industrial-hygiene sampling, ventilation, radiation safety, and EHS training.
• Perform workplace inspections and identify practical controls for environmental, health, and safety risks.
• Investigate first-aid and OSHA-recordable incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and track corrective actions through completion.
• Analyze leading and lagging safety indicators, identify trends, and recommend actions that reduce injuries and improve compliance.
• Serve as the EHS point of contact for assigned buildings or functions and participate in safety councils, teams, and committees.
• Support site injury-reduction, environmental, and sustainability goals and initiatives.
• Develop and deliver EHS communications and training for employees and contractors.
• Interpret and apply Cal/OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, and ANSI requirements to site operations.
• Participate in hazardous-material and medical emergency response activities as needed.
• Manage multiple customers, programs, and projects while responding to changing site priorities.
• Travel between local sites and support broader business initiatives when required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, industrial hygiene, safety engineering, environmental studies, or a closely related field.
• At least 1-2 years of relevant EHS, safety, environmental compliance, or industrial-hygiene experience, including internships or professional experience.
• Working knowledge of EPA and Cal/OSHA regulations and ANSI standards.
• Working knowledge of ergonomics, general safety, and industrial-hygiene principles.
• Ability to evaluate EHS issues, select practical controls, and implement effective corrective actions.
• Experience organizing multiple projects or programs and following work through completion.
• Clear written, verbal, and presentation skills for working with engineers, manufacturing employees, contractors, and management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and basic data or information-management systems.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel between Goleta and Lompoc-area sites when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience supporting environmental, general-safety, or industrial-hygiene programs.
• Master's degree in occupational health, industrial hygiene, safety engineering, or a related discipline.
• Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or a related safety or environmental credential.
• OSHA 10-Hour Construction or comparable general-industry training.
• Experience developing and delivering EHS training or leading safety committees.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, semiconductor, electronics, cleanroom, laboratory, or other advanced-manufacturing environments.

Most covered employees accrue at least one hour for every 30 hours worked, may begin using accrued leave after 90 days, and may use at least 40 hours or five days per year, whichever is greater, subject to applicable law and CRG policy.
