Job Title: Stepdown/MedSurg Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: 7W Stepdown/MedSurg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Valid nursing license Certifications: BLS Certification required Must-Have: Ability to read telemetry strips, experience with common MedSurg population Description: The position involves caring for patients in a stepdown and med-surg setting. The nurse will manage typical diagnoses such as chest pain, COPD, abdominal pain, pneumonia, and urinary tract infections. The nurse must be skilled in titrating drips as required for stepdown care. Charge nurse support is available on the unit. Registered nurses are required to interpret telemetry strips in collaboration with monitor techs. The unit functions with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:3 for stepdown and 1:4 to 1:6 for floor patients. Nurses may be pulled to other floors or stepdown units as needed. The dress code includes wearing royal blue scrubs. Holiday scheduling is integrated with permanent staff holiday rotations. Weekend shifts are required, with two weekends scheduled in a rotation. There is no call or standby requirement for this position.
