Human Resources Associate 2 - Wellness & Leave North Kansas City Schools CENTRAL OFFICE - Kansas City, Missouri Open in Google Maps Job Details Job ID: 5835849 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Jul 15, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Position Type: Full-Time Job Categories: Support Staff > Administrative Assistant Job Description The job of Human Resources Associate 2 - Wellness & Leave is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the delivery of human resource services with specific responsibility for supporting district wellness and leave processes; managing complex employee processes; providing information to applicants and employees; maintaining records; and completing assigned projects and tasks. This Job reports to Assigned Supervisor Essential Functions Assists employees regarding a variety of employee leave scenarios (e.g. verifying eligibility, distributing and receiving forms, providing eligibility notices, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that employee leave processes are maintained in an effective, timely, and legally compliant manner. Attends meetings, workshops, and seminars (e.g. job fairs, orientations for new employees, etc.) for the purpose of gathering information, presenting information, and ensuring current processes and procedures and requirements are clearly communicated and understood. Coordinates with workers' compensation carrier, clinic, and employees for the purpose of ensuring workers' compensation claims and process are maintained effectively. Maintains a variety of leave and wellness related files and records for the purpose of ensuring data accuracy and complying with mandated record retention requirements. Monitors wellness budget allocations, expenditures, fund balances and related financial activities for the purpose of ensuring that program needs are met while ensuring that district funds are distributed in an effective and legally compliant manner. Organizes leave and wellness data from a variety of sources (e.g. applicants, employees, vendors, etc.) for the purpose of managing assigned processes in an effective and timely manner, while ensuring best practice and legal compliance. Prepares a variety of reports and related documents for the purpose of providing documentation and information to internal and external sources. Presents at new employee orientation meetings as needed and assigned for the purpose of conveying information regarding assigned topics. Processes employee wellness program documents and related information for the purpose of assisting the Human Resources Director in providing wellness programs and initiatives in an effective manner. Processes employee leave program processes, documents and related information for the purpose of assisting the Human Resources Coordinator in ensuring employee leaves are managed in a consistent and legally compliant manner. Responds to written and verbal inquiries from a variety of internal and external clients for the purpose of providing information and providing direction related to assigned HR services. Submits worker's compensation claims and related information for the purpose of ensuring that all reportable claims are received by the workers' compensation carrier within 48 business hours from the date of the incident and that the claims process is maintained efficiently and effectively. Supports the planning and execution of district professional development as assigned for the purpose of ensuring that training and professional development activities are held in a consistent and effective manner. Supports the planning and execution of employee district events and initiatives as assigned (e.g. employee recognition, trainings, workshops, district-wide events, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that events and initiatives are successful and that they produce the outcomes expected by the District. Other Functions Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of human resources. Job Requirements Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities. SKILLS: preparing and maintaining accurate records; planning and managing projects; operating standard office equipment; utilizing pertinent software applications; analyzing data; applying assessment instruments; classifying data and/or information; and promoting activities and/or events. KNOWLEDGE: basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; reading a variety of manuals, writing documents following prescribed formats, and/or presenting information to others; and solving practical problems. Knowledge of standard office software, office methods and procedures, business telephone etiquette, and concepts of grammar and punctuation. ABILITY: scheduling activities, meetings, and/or events; gathering, collating, and/or classifying data; and using job‑related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Additional abilities include maintaining confidentiality; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; working with detailed information; adapting to changing priorities; working with frequent interruptions; accuracy and attention to detail; communicating with diverse groups; displaying tact and courtesy; meeting deadlines and schedules; multi‑tasking; organizing tasks; setting priorities; and working as part of a team. Responsibility Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; tracking budget expenditures. Utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job’s functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organization’s services. Work Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, 10% standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard-free environment. Experience: Job‑related experience is required. Education: High School plus job‑related coursework. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The individual who holds this position is regularly required to walk, hear, and speak, and must have close, moderate, and distance vision ability. This individual must be able to travel between district facilities. The position requires moderate travel and physical activity. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and twelve‑month work calendar to be established by the Board of Education. Benefits according to Board policies.
