Residence Life Coordinator

Job Description: Under the supervision of the Director of Residence Life and Housing, the Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) is a live-in professional staff member responsible for fostering a safe, inclusive, engaging, and student-centered residential environment. The RLC provides leadership for an assigned residential community and supports Arcadia University's Cohort-Based Residential Student Experience Model, with an emphasis on belonging, engagement, student support, community accountability, and student success. The RLC supervises and develops Resident Assistants, responds to student concerns and crisis situations, supports conduct and restorative practices, coordinates residential engagement and programming, assists with housing operations and facilities concerns, and serves as a member of the professional duty/on-call team. The ideal candidate will be student-centered, collaborative, organized, and able to balance community building, student development, accountability, crisis response, and residential operations. This is a live-in position that serves as a member of the on-call team.

Essential Functions :

• Communicate the philosophy, mission, and priorities of Residence Life and Housing to students and campus community members.
  
• Demonstrate and promote the Arcadia University Lived Values and Knight Code of Honor.
  
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive, equitable, and student-centered residential environment.
  
• Maintain professional relationships with students, families, faculty, staff, and campus partners while exercising sound judgment and appropriate confidentiality.
  
• Support University priorities related to student belonging, engagement, retention, well-being, and success.
  
• Essential Department Functions
  
• Serve as the primary professional staff member for an assigned residential community and maintain a visible, approachable presence within the residence halls.
  
• Implement the Cohort-Based Residential Student Experience Model and develop communities that promote belonging, connection, academic success, well-being, and positive peer relationships.
  
• Identify emerging student and community needs and develop appropriate engagement, outreach, and support strategies.
  
• Supervise, mentor, and develop Resident Assistants, including participation in selection, training, evaluation, recognition, and performance management.
  
• Coach and hold student staff accountable while developing their skills in community building, student support, crisis response, conflict management, and community accountability.
  
• Coordinate and support intentional residential programming and engagement, including RA programming, affinity and themed communities, Friday Knight Lights, Fall Week of Welcome, and other residential initiatives.
  
• Build relationships with residential students and provide proactive outreach, referrals, and support related to academic, personal, social, and behavioral concerns.
  
• Collaborate with Counseling Services, CARE, Student Engagement, Academic Affairs, Public Safety, Health Services, Facilities, and other University partners to address student and community needs.
  
• Address violations of University policy and community expectations through educational, restorative, and accountability-focused approaches; facilitate conduct meetings and serve as a hearing officer as assigned.
  
• Participate fully in the professional duty/on-call rotation and respond appropriately to student emergencies, behavioral concerns, community disruptions, facilities emergencies, and other residential incidents.
  
• Support housing operations, including occupancy management, room changes, move-in and move-out, opening and closing, health and safety inspections, and other major residential operations.
  
• Serve as a liaison for facilities and operational concerns and maintain accurate records in applicable University systems.
  
• Support assessment efforts by using student feedback, engagement information, and other data to identify needs and improve the residential experience.
  
• Participate in New Student Orientation, University-wide programs, committees, training, and other Campus Life initiatives as assigned.
  
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Psychology, Education, Social Work, or a related field required.
  
• One to three years of experience in Residence Life, Housing, Student Affairs, or a related area.
  
• Experience working with or supervising student leaders.
  
• Experience supporting students in a residential or higher education environment.
  
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to complex student situations.
  
• Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills.
  
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and non-traditional hours as required.
  
• Ability to live in University-provided housing and maintain an active professional presence within the residential community.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Education, or a related field.
  
• Professional Residence Life and Housing experience.
  
• Experience with residential curriculum, cohort-based learning, or intentional residential engagement.
  
• Experience with student conduct, restorative practices, conflict mediation, or crisis response.
  
• Experience supervising and developing undergraduate student leaders.
  
• Experience supporting affinity-based or themed residential communities.
  
• Familiarity with housing management and student information systems.
  
• Experience using assessment and student experience data to inform practice.
