Job Opportunity: Division Chief of Pediatric Pulmonology

The Department of Pediatrics at our organization is on the lookout for a skilled Pediatric Pulmonologist to take on the role of Division Chief of Pediatric Pulmonology . This position offers a chance to lead a dynamic and expanding division within a top-tier academic health system in the region.

About the Division and Facility

• Currently consists of 2 Pediatric Pulmonologists and 3 Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioners (NPs).
• Delivers both inpatient and outpatient consultative services across a 25-county area, including Upstate New York, Western Massachusetts, and Western Vermont.
• Hosts multidisciplinary clinics focusing on neuromuscular diseases, aerodigestive disorders, and a monthly BPD Clinic for NICU graduates.
• Home to the only accredited Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Center in the region, recognized nationally for its quality improvement and community engagement efforts.
• Equipped with a full Pulmonary Function Laboratory and offers office-based flexible laryngoscopy.
• Performs flexible bronchoscopy under anesthesia.

The CF Center Provides

• A comprehensive multidisciplinary care team, including pharmacists, dietitians, child-life specialists, mental health coordinators, case managers, respiratory therapists, nurse coordinators, NPs, and physicians.
• Strong community and philanthropic backing from the Donna Crandall Foundation, which supports CF families with groceries and financial assistance.

Role Responsibilities

The Division Chief will:

• Lead all clinical, academic, and administrative operations within the division.
• Oversee initiatives related to quality, safety, and growth in pediatric pulmonology and the CF Center.
• Mentor faculty, fellows, and learners involved in Albany Medical College's training programs.
• Encourage multidisciplinary collaboration with colleagues in critical care, neonatology, hospital medicine, and other pediatric subspecialties.
• Contribute to the educational and research objectives of the department.

About the Hospital

The Bernard and Millie Duker Children's Hospital is part of a larger academic health system and serves as the sole children's hospital for 25 counties in upstate New York, catering to families in southwest Vermont and Western Massachusetts. The facility includes a 60-bed NICU, a 19-bed PICU, an 18-room Pediatric Emergency Department, and over 140 physicians and providers dedicated to patient care.
