Payroll Specialist

The Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee compensation within the organization. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of payroll operations, including calculating wages, deductions, and taxes in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Payroll Specialist collaborates closely with HR and finance teams to maintain payroll records, resolve discrepancies, and support audits. By leveraging payroll systems and software, the specialist ensures data integrity and confidentiality while delivering exceptional service to employees. Ultimately, this role contributes to the organization's financial accuracy and employee satisfaction by maintaining a seamless payroll process. Minimum Qualifications Proven experience in payroll processing and administration. Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements at the federal and state levels. Proficiency in payroll systems and software, specifically ADP. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in handling sensitive payroll data. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred. Preferred Qualifications Certification as a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar credential. Experience working with multi-state payroll processing and complex payroll scenarios. Familiarity with additional payroll software platforms and HRIS systems.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies efficiently. Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with employees and cross-functional teams. Responsibilities Process and execute payroll for all employees accurately and on schedule using payroll software such as ADP. Calculate and remit payroll taxes, including federal, state, and local tax withholdings, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. Maintain and update payroll records, including employee data, tax information, and benefit deductions, while ensuring data confidentiality. Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies or issues related to payroll processing in collaboration with HR and finance departments. Prepare and submit required payroll reports and documentation for internal audits and external regulatory agencies. Responsible for processing garnishments, 401k loans, etc. Skills The Payroll Specialist utilizes payroll tax knowledge daily to ensure all deductions and contributions comply with current laws, minimizing risk for the organization. Expertise in payroll processes and systems like ADP; enables efficient and accurate payroll runs, reducing errors and delays. Familiarity with state tax regulations is essential for managing multi-state payroll complexities, ensuring proper tax filings. Strong organizational skills support maintaining detailed payroll accounts and records, facilitating smooth audits and reporting.
