Cal OES is recruiting for an Assistant Chief for Region I of the Fire & Rescue Branch. Region I covers the following counties: San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, and Orange.

Under the direction of the Deputy Chief, Fire South Operations (Fire and Rescue), the Coordinator (Fire & Rescue) will provide continuous support and coordination to the public safety/emergency management community. The incumbent will respond to emergencies and incidents within California or outside California as assigned. Will provide professional staff support related to the fire and rescue operations of the branch on a continuous basis. Provide collaboration and coordination to the fire and rescue community within the state's mutual aid system and all other relative stakeholders affected or associated with the agency's mission and vision. Will be expected to support the research and development of the Cal OES Fire and Rescue fleet, contract administration of the Fire & Rescue Branch's vehicle purchase and acquisition program; fleet management including preventive maintenance and repair and will perform other duties as assigned. In Office : This position supports and manages the day-to-day business operations for Cal OES which is handled in an office location. This is not considered a hybrid telework position. Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Science, Fire Administration, Public or Business Administration or closely related field preferable.
- Demonstrate management and oversight experience collaborating, coordinating and communicating with the Incident Command System, SEMS, NIMS, and the Mutual Aid System.
- Experience developing and maintaining relationships with various Federal, State, and Local agencies.
- Ability to obtain consensus on direction that will ensure continuation of the development portion of projects and help ensure successful completion.
