Position description

The Department of Radiology at the University of California, Davis is currently recruiting for a full-time Division Chief for Abdominal Radiology at the Associate or Full Professor rank, to commensurate with experience and credentials, in the Professor of Clinical Radiology or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series.

The Division Chief will assume a key leadership role in managing section operations, driving clinical excellence, promoting academic growth, and fostering collaboration across departments. In addition to contributions in their own specific research areas, the Division Chief will be responsible for the research and teaching activities of the Division. The ideal candidate will have mentored junior faculty and demonstrated teaching excellence. Exceptional leadership and administrative skills are also required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the Abdominal Division, providing strategic vision, mentorship, and guidance to faculty, fellows, and staff.
• Oversee the clinical operations of the division, ensuring the highest standards of care in abdominal imaging and intervention, including MRI, CT, ultrasound, and radiographs.
• Collaborate with other departments to advance interdisciplinary patient care.
  Manage along with the education lead with the section's education efforts, supporting fellows and teaching residents, fostering academic and career development.
• Participate in administrative decision-making, including budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation to support the division's growth.
• Take a leadership role in recruitment, retention, and professional development of division faculty.

Expectations for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) series include providing patient care, engaging in public and University service, and participating in teaching and scholarly or creative work opportunities. Expectations for the Clinical "X" series include providing patient care, research, teaching, and engaging in public and University service.

The Abdominal Imaging Division currently has 12 faculty. Some division members also perform CT & US guided abdominal interventional procedures, and some participate in complex 2nd & 3rd trimester obstetric ultrasound.

The Division is a collaborative and supportive group with responsive leadership. There are no overnight or evening call responsibilities. As part of the team, you will work alongside approximately 30 hard-working radiology residents and 3 outstanding abdominal imaging fellows.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

• MD, DO, or equivalent degree
• Possess a CA Medical License or eligibility for licensure in the state of California, or meet eligibility requirements for a CA Special Permit

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

• Leadership experience in Academic Radiology.
• Fellowship trained in Body Imaging, Abdominal Radiology, or equivalent.
• Board certified or board eligible in Diagnostic Radiology
• Proficiency in all aspects of Abdominal Imaging including MR, CT, ultrasound and fluoroscopic studies
• A commitment to teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

Preferred qualifications (other preferred, but not required, qualifications for the position)

We welcome applicants with proficiency in abdominal interventional procedures, though this is not necessary
