OP Schnabel Family YMCA Executive DirectorPosition title: Executive Director, OP Schnabel Family YMCA Location: San Antonio, Texas Employment status: Full-time, ExemptThe Executive Director of the OP Schnabel Family YMCA will provide mission-focused leadership, advancing community impact, membership growth, program quality, staff development, external partnerships/collaborations, philanthropy, and operational excellence. This leader will build strong relationships with members, staff, volunteers, donors, community partners, and public stakeholders while ensuring a welcoming, safe, and financially sustainable YMCA.Candidate ProfileThe successful candidate will be a collaborative, visible, and results-oriented leader who demonstrates a deep commitment to the YMCA mission. This position is responsible for implementing the operations strategy to reach the annual strategic and fiscal objectives. The Branch Executive Director works to position the Y as a community leader in the areas of Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. The Branch Executive Director accomplishes these objectives through three main areas of focus: Branch Operations, Staff Development, and Community Development.Essential FunctionsBranch OperationsModels the 5 Voice Attributes of Welcoming, Nurturing, Genuine, Determined, and Hopeful as a guide for staff and member engagement.Emulates the cause-driven leader on duty practices at all times.Develops, manages, and achieves the annual operating budget for the branch.Implements strategies to grow membership and program enrollment through successful marketing campaigns, high quality programs, and member engagement.Seeks continuous improvement to identify more efficient operating practices, in partnership with Y Support Center leadership.Demonstrates a high level of fiscal competence through accurate budget forecasting and variance reporting.Ensures that the member experience is at the center of everything we do.Creates a culture of inclusion to ensure the mission of the Y is upheld, diversity is valued, and all are welcome.Maintains a clean, safe facility that lends itself to an excellent member experience.Staff DevelopmentSupervises, coaches, and manages the performance of Y branch staff according to all relevant YMCA policies, procedures, and applicable employment laws.Develops and promotes a member-focused staff culture based on relationship-building, active listening, and member engagement.Ensures that all Y policies and procedures are adhered to within the branch.Coaches staff performance, completes timely performance evaluations of eligible staff, and ensures that payroll information is accurate and submitted on a timely basis.Develops, implements, and maintains personal staff development and recognition plans for staff in partnership with the Staff Development team.Community DevelopmentServes as the YMCA's lead community representative for the branch, maintaining a visible and active presence in the community and positioning the YMCA as a trusted community partner and resource.Develops and maintains strong relationships with city and civic leaders, schools, businesses, nonprofit and faith-based organizations, community groups, and other key stakeholders. Actively participates in community meetings, events, coalitions, and other opportunities that strengthen relationships and increase awareness of the YMCA's mission and impact.Identifies community needs and opportunities and develops strategic partnerships that align with the YMCA's mission and strategic priorities, expand the YMCA's reach and impact, and create new opportunities to serve the community.Leads the branch's Annual One Y Campaign by developing and executing strategies to engage community leaders, corporations, members, staff, and volunteers in philanthropic support of the YMCA. Partners with the Philanthropy Department to leverage resources, best practices, and support to achieve fundraising goals and strengthen donor relationships.Establishes and achieves goals for special events, grants, sponsorships, and other community-based resource development opportunities in collaboration with appropriate YMCA departments.Develops and maintains strong relationships with funders and community partners and ensures timely and accurate completion of all required reports, documentation, and other commitments associated with funding agreements, including the City of San Antonio, United Way, and similar agencies.GeneralMaintains facility, equipment, and vehicles according to State and Federal regulations and YMCA standards.Upholds preventative maintenance plansEnsures staff training is completed and safety drills are performed on the facility emergency action plan.Monitors and controls systems, practices, and training opportunities related to risk management and safety for participants/staff, especially child abuse prevention/neglect, and reporting procedures.Participates in cabinet work and other special projects/assignments as needed.Any other duties as required by supervisor.QualificationsThe Executive Director must understand the basic concept of non-profit management and the utilization of volunteers and staff to attain both strategic and operational goals.Commitment to the mission and core values of the YMCA of Greater San Antonio, as well as implementation of these values in all daily work activity is a necessity in this leadership role.Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred.Minimum of 5 years operations experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.Must possess high levels of self-motivation and proven leadership abilities.This position requires a demonstrated history of leadership in the areas of volunteer and staff development, budget and fiscal management, financial development, community development and strategic planning.Ability to delegate appropriate responsibilities involved in day-to-day operations is essential.Employee must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and have working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Gmail.Must be able to understand software systems, or be able to learn within 60 days of hire date.Certifications required within the first month of hire: Redwoods Bloodborne Pathogens, Defensive Driving, and Hazardous CommunicationsCertifications required within the first 60 days of hire: CPR Pro and First Aid. If working at a location with a pool, must also complete O2 certificationA Texas Driver's license is required as well as the ability to drive to various locations within the greater San Antonio metropolitan area.YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.Working ConditionsWork is performed in a fast-paced office environment that requires attending meetings at different off-site locations.Employee must be able to drive to multiple appointments in a day.Visual acuity is required for reading computer screens and/or documents and making changes as necessary/required.Job requires high levels of alertness and concentration.
