HVAC Chiller Mechanic Journeyman (Union)

Overview Johnson Controls Inc. is looking for forward-thinking talent to support the fast-growing HVAC business in North America. You’ll work on exciting HVAC chillers and commercial products with a team that is open, collaborative, results-oriented, hardworking, and committed to safety. Responsibilities Provide the highest level of service to customers solving facility inefficiencies and resolving service-related items. Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing solutions and outcomes at commissioning and aftermarket service. Offer recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions. Travel 10–20% to support branch customer startup, commissioning, and aftermarket service troubleshooting. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of practical experience with residential and/or ducted products, air‑cooled or water‑cooled chillers, AHUs, or rooftop ducted units. Strong HVAC/mechanical troubleshooting experience, including repair of centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, and screw chiller components. Ability to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiency. Valid drivers’ license and, where applicable, a universal EPA refrigerants license and other state/local licensing. Excellent communication skills; ability to write and explain problem, cause, and corrective actions. Self‑starter with a passion to learn and apply on the job; prioritizes safety in all forms. Benefits Hourly rate of $38.23 (determined by the CBA/rate sheet) plus potential for higher compensation. Pay range reflects target compensation; exceptional candidates may be considered beyond the range. Company vehicle, tools, uniforms, and training through Service Technical Academy (STA).
